Hypnosis and subliminals are not the same thing. Hypnosis relies on the conscious mind to a significant degree. Subliminals completely bypass it, and if it gets involved at all, it's from the direction of the subconscious. Not the other way around, as with hypnosis.
You can subliminalize a hypnosis script and (sometimes) have it "work", depending on the script. But sometimes, you'll also get a reversed effect.
I use state shifting in these programs since 5.5G, but hypnosis is more than just a state shift. It's the conscious use of the conscious and subconscious mind to direct intentional change within the conscious and subconscious self, whereas going through the same general states while you are falling asleep is not a directed endeavor and has a different effect and result. State shifting through my subs is designed to enhance and facilitate the success of the sub, by bringing your conscious mind to the right place to make the sub most effective. Hypnosis uses conscious state shifting to make the access to the subconscious work. So the two are using similar methods, but in reversed ways.
The pain relief in MHS is minor. It's aimed at being the equivalent of aspirin or tylenol. It would not explain Chaos' results.
