Hey dude. I'm not Shannon and I'm not listening to LTU6 right now, but I can give some insight re depression.

From your description, it sounds like you're dealing with the feeling and/or idea that you're in a rut, a routine that at least on the surface seems to not perceivably contribute to positive results. It is very easy to interpret this seeming lack of perceivable positive results as futility, or more likely apathy due to your statement about it feeling like an "energy sink."

There's an often-repeated Nietzsche quotation, "He who has a 'why' in life can bear/tolerate almost any 'how,'" usually ascribed to finding one's purpose or mission. It's been a while since I've actively read the Men's Journal section here, so I don't rightly know if you've posted your current "why" here, but if you haven't please do and if you think you don't have one then thinking about one might be a good place to start. Afterwards, it's probably then about being honest with yourself about a realistic plan to make that "why" happen with reasonably short, realistically attainable "hows."
