A leader of self ONLY, however, is not alpha. I disagree with you because of that.

Alpha is a social entity, not an individual. In a tribe of monkeys, if an alpha dies, another takes his place and leads the tribe, f*cks the females, and etc. This is the nature of the tribe. It does not matter the individual, the nature is that there is an alpha, and always will be.

I'm sure all the beta monkeys are alphas in their heads, but they are not the alpha [role] until such instances happen.

If you are a monkey, this may be true. If you are a human, this is nothing but self limiting logical fallacy.

A leader of self may wander in the desert, by choice, for a lifetime, and still be a leader of self and thus alpha. An alpha, as you define it, is what Black Dragon calls Alpha 1.0. The Ascendant, or 2.0 Alpha, which is what I am talking about, does not get status from others except as an afterthought. True alpha does not even need to be obvious to others that they are an alpha. Such a need is based in insecurity and the need for the approval of others, which makes the person... not really alpha.

I agree with you in principle. I'm essentially saying that, if you want to fly, be the bird. Being a fish is fine if it's what you want, but it's not what I want.

I'm also saying that if you try to tell me I should be a fish you obviously don't know what I want (to be a bird).

Your issue, Sarge, is that you enjoy the argument more than you enjoy the truth, and you like to be right more than you want to actually be right. It's about the back and forth for you, and you enjoy trying to "get people's goats". Very much like those friends I have whom I have compared you to in the past.
