Just realized last night, one of the women I was interacting with was trying to ghost me. I have seen her display IOIs in the past, but they have always been muted. Not long ago, someone told me she is married, and seems to be unhappily so. The guy she was sitting next to kept waving me over as I would pass on the way back from turning in my answer for trivia, and she was doing this really wierd thing where she was sitting facing me, inches from me, facing me, but she was somehow withdrawing into herself such that she "wasn't there". When she would speak it would be less, but she always went back to it. I'm thinking based on what I observed and what I know, that it was a self defense tactic to prevent her from acting on attraction when she is married.

Ghosting, then, could be a sign of too much sexual attraction too fast.

Or just them misinterprinting it or not knowing how to react to it.

I have been around her on average once a week for the last couple years now, and I have flirted with her most of those times. When she was interested, she would come over and make a point of talking; when she wasn't, she would still smile and greet me face to face and then go about her business (as the manager of the restaurant in question).

Her sexual arousal levels have over that time ranged from none to "Oh Jeez, he's making my panties wet," depending on various factors, but never before has she done that.
