@Shannon I hadn't thought about it for quite some time, but one of the things I struggled with a great deal when I was younger was respiratory issues, on more or less a continuous basis. Where I live (the midwest) there's all kinds of airborne irritants, and I constantly dealt with asthma, sometimes bronchitis, etc., especially during the months when pollen was in the air. I would consistently be clearing my throat and producing phlegm to the point people thought it was for attention. However, as an adult, I later came to know that there were more metaphysical aspects at play; namely: Some people are atmospheric filters for energy, and part of the way the physical body deals with "toxic" or really more dense energy, is the same way it deals with physical irritants, which is producing phlegm to encapsulate and eject it. I don't know where your physical location is, but between the air quality of wherever you live, and the toxicity of the energies in your environment, dealing with the people around you, your system may be overwhelmed trying to process things, which would obviously worsen your physical symptoms, since all these things are connected. If at all possible, I hope you're able to get away from the city for a period of time and see how you feel.
But essentially, I'm saying this to say addressing the problem with a two-pronged attack on both the physical, and subtle fronts (through whatever means you like to use) may end being a useful strategy long term.
