There is no perfect solution. If you know beforehand that the subscription service requires Internet access, then surely you can time your usage to when you have steady Internet access. But now you have more options and more affordable options.

Agree on this. The only type of subs for which a subscription model makes sense.
That's for you. For a lot of people, a subscription makes perfect sense. Someone who doesn't make enough to buy, and for whatever reason won't be able or willing to save up. Someone who doesn't have enough storage space. Someone who wants to try before they buy. Someone who can save money subscribing instead of buying. Someone who doesn't want to deal with what to do with the files after they're done with the sub. Someone who wants to use subs from an unusual device, like the gaming console in their living room. And so on and so forth. You have to think outside the box of "my personal experience and opinion". I have thousands of customers to tend to.
