Why are you having trouble putting FLACs on your phone?

Idk. I am not tech savvy. I will figure it out. 



I was used to MP3 files

MP3 was not an ideal solution even in 3rd Gen, but it was do-able.  After about 5.9G (IIRC) I found that the data density was getting so high that I couldn't use it anymore, as it was stripping out too much information to make the subliminalized data comprehensible to the subconscious mind.

I had no choice left but to use lossless compression at that point, or uncompressed, and I doubt people want 3-6x more data to download, stream, move around and store.
