Now I understand where the resistance against MLS comes from...
When I say learning is an essential part, I mean learning, gathering useful knowledge, differentiate easier between knowledge that is useless and knowledge that brings you closer to your goal (more money).
A degree, formal education or general knowledge is absolutely not what I meant, that is what you made out of it in your head. Some formal education might be helpful, some will be toxic.
From the pet rock story:
"This is the most obvious point we can all learn from the Pet Rock. The reason why the product flourished, despite the fact that it was just an ordinary stone you could find in your backyard or in the park, was that it was packaged and marketed perfectly."
So he was already a copywriter and already experienced in marketing. If he didn't have that kind of knowledge I'm pretty sure he would have still had the idea but might have executed it not in the same way and therefore with less success. He knew how to sell which underlines my suggestion of MLS. You don't need to have studied marketing, but you should be able to find out quickly how to market your "idea" in that case and how to sell it.
