I believe that OCD results from a subconscious fear that what is imagined and what is not imaged are the dame thing, or indistinguishable to some part of the awareness close to the surface (conscious mind), which drives irrational behaviors, such as checking to see of a door is locked multiple times. The "reality" of that state is not accepted as "true" upon seeing that it is true, and therefore must be re-verified. If your OCD is improving, it is because your fears are being assuaged and subsided.
