Yeah, some of those theories messed me up for some time. One conspiracy theory about conspiracy theories stated that "they" bankroll guys to be fear mongers like the mafia hires out muscle and keep people in negative states. 
I just think most of those guys are Authors and in order to sell more books and make a living they need to make up more, newer and enticing stories; supply the demand, basic business rule. I think I will spend some time tonight tapping some of the ridiculous beliefs I have as a result.

If you can't manage the little you have now, who will trust you with more, if you can't control yourself long can you rule over others for? Its easier for a king to rule a kingdom than himself and who does want an empire? Being unconquerable lies with yourself!
