You're in the calibration stage. This is where you're new to the thing you're trying to do, or fairly new, and you're trying actively to figure it out. In calibration, you should expect to make mistakes unless someone is actively teaching you. Mistakes are you teaching yourself. Welcome them, because they show you how not to make mistakes. But don't try to make mistakes if you can do otherwise.
