Welcome to the forum. The dreams during Alpha are interesting, i've had some good ones. Especially when I first did the 2011 version I loved some of the dreams.
The ability to stand up for yourself is definately worked on in Stage 1 and 2 where you will get more frustrated at people, after that it smooths out and becomes more natural.
