It is an outpatient surgery, which means I get to go home when the surgery is completed.
It only takes an hour, I'm totally and fully awake for the surgery!! I was surprised to hear that!! They numb the area where the incision is made. Attach a wire to my heart, and test the ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator). After the ICD is inside, I get stitched up and get to go home the same day.
No driving, someone has to drive me home. I was told if I jerked the steering wheel to avoid an accident, the wire attached to my heart might come out. No driving for two weeks, that's not too long.
