Involving her conscious mind will potentially adjust how it works. It will depend on what she understands to be true. If you make her afraid of it when you ask for consent, she will resist. If you make her curious, the worst that will happen is that she may focus on looking for effects too much to let it freely work for a short period of time. If she's skeptical, she will probably respond much like if she is afraid, and try to prevent it from affecting her.
If you're going to ask for consent, you need to set it up properly. The best thing to do is to either invoke curiosity or get her consent significantly in advance for exposing her without her necessarily knowing what the subliminal will be focused on doing, or, barring that, when it will be used.
This is how I get consensual testers for my aphrodisiacs. I explain what I want to do, and then that if she consents to helping me test, she will either not know when it is being used or what it is supposed to do, and sometimes she will not know either. That of course, is in the interest of getting scientifically valid results. If you're not a total asshole and she knows you at least to a small degree, she may be induced to willingly participate in the testing or experiment that way.
You have to ask for what you want, and you have to do it in a way that is reasonable and effective.
Not telling her will not stop it from working, but not telling her she's being exposed, without getting her consent to being exposed, you have to ask yourself: would you want someone else doing that to you?
