If that's the case, what's the generation next dmsi will come out? If it's 5.7.7 does it mean the free update are stopped on the next release?
I'm not dmsi user, though.
5.75.7G is where the big difference came. With the changes I have in mind for the next time I have a chance to advance the skeleton script that will result in 5.8G. But first I have to build and release UMSv2 Stage 4 in 5.75.7G.
So the next DMSI will probably be 5.8G. It will be the la at free upgrade for anyone who has purchased a previous version. I may release it as pay only for a month or two before the option for the free upgrade is available, as someone suggested on the forum.
DMSI 3.4 might also be the last version of DMSI. I suspect there may be another release in 6G.
Hi Shannon. Good to see 5.8G is coming soon, great for DMSI. Very encouraging!
Just curious though...what is the purpose to forcing DMSI to be temporarily paid for again? Especially since I assume it'll be vastly more expensive with these new prices you've created. Seems it'll cause a lot of problems with people needlessly, as some will get the program totally for free, others will have to pay $300+ or whatever for it. Seems like it'll cause a lot of anger that isn't productive for unknown reasons.
Probably better to just stick to the "free update until it works" mandate. Seems like a better solution than a portion of users getting the program as agreed upon, and others having to fork over a new inflated price on the sub. Even if the price isn't inflate and is offered as the previous price, it's still going to cause division for questionable rewards.
Just my two cents as a businessman who's been involved in such situations in the past and seen the problems it creates.
All the best, happy to see 5.8G coming soon. That's exciting to see.
The idea that was suggested to me was that I release it as paid only for a month or two, and then allow for a free update. It was in response to a post you made, I believe, about trying to find ways to incentivize working on it faster. I have not decided to do that or not, but it is an option under consideration.
"Free upgrades until it works" ends with 3.4. I think this will be something like the 12th to 17th version. If I had the free time to work on DMSI this might be a different matter, but at this point these programs are so complex and so difficult and time consuming to build that DMSI is never going to get priority until I don't have to constantly chase making enough money each month to keep the ship afloat. Subscriptions will help with that, but who knows how long it will take to generate enough monthly income through sales and subscriptions that I am free to work on what I want to work on, instead of whatever makes money at the moment. So as I stated before, 3.4 will be a free upgrade for everyone who has purchased a previous version, but everything after 3.4 will not be free. If there is anything after 3.4.
On top of that, I know how potentially lucrative this program is when I get it right, and how important it is to you personally, but there are significantly more important things that I could be spending my time developing. Things like a version of MIR that can prevent or end a serious, life threatening infection. Something that can finally heal my lungs and allow me to spend less than 30-60 minutes each night coughing up phlegm before I can sleep. Something that helps insomniacs fall asleep. Work on 6G. And things that I will be able to make myself a millionaire selling, that won't take potentially years more development of the script to get to that point. Like a weight loss program that fulfills the design parameters I have set up and been waiting 3 years to build now.
My best estimate is that 3.4 will work well, and when 6G comes out I make a Version 4.0, and that will be paid and probably is the end of the line when it comes to development of DMSI.
Thanks I understand the idea now. I see.
Yeah the 3.4 version will be the last free update, no problem. Who knows at this point if an upgraded version afterwards will need to exist, that's right. I suppose regardless, a 6G version will still sell very well indeed, I'd still buy it regardless of how 3.4 goes. I'm sure I'm not in the minority there. It may be hard to get data on 3.4's performance in the short-term, for obvious reasons in the world. It's potency should still show through after awhile.
Also, believe me Shannon, I understand your sentiment about wanting to work on other things you believe more important in general. I hear you 100%. There's another program that is even more important to me after all. I can't even describe the feeling I have about it.
At least DMSI is helping make 6G a reality for you, which was half of it's goal to begin with. So it's still been vital to the future of IML.
Excited for the future. In more ways than one. Looking forward to seeing 3.4 take shape at last once Stage 4 is done of course.
