Discount? No. Pre-orders? Only if I have no choice. Which, so far, is not the case.
For the record, don't mistake this for a discount on OF v3. It's not. It's the introductory price at which, according to the models, certain very important variables take on specific values that significantly benefit me and all of you for a long time to come. It is also an extremely rare event, which I have never seen before in the models, and I seriously doubt I will ever see again. So as I said in the announcement... don't expect this to happen again.
Hey @Shannon, does the program need to be out at a certain time for this to occur? Or does anyone who purchases it at that price benefit from this future somehow now? Is it a direct benefit? Or indirect like IML benefits, then us as customers benefit on some level?
The key was to have a price that was $20 below $114.95. That is all that was necessary, and I did that. We are on the probability line I was looking for. Thank you all.
The benefits that result in the short term are that we make a little bit more money than we would have otherwise (not enough for me to have done this just for that, mind you) but the program also gets FRM 5.0. It becomes, for reasons I can't discuss without altering things negatively, worth the time and effort to upgrade FRM to 5.0 now, instead of waiting. Which will have a lot of short, medium and long term benefits for us all.
There are other benefits as well that I'll leave un-mnetioned, and the cascade and butterfly effects of all this continue to spread out across the world for a long time in one way or another.
It's basically a rare opportunity to trip a domino that causes a domino effect in a lot of ways that are almost entirely very positive or moderately positive.
Quote:How is the modelling going for the 18 or so planned improvements to FRM? Very exciting to see FRM 5.0 become a reality. Surprising to read that you are no longer considering the 5.0 the "final word" on FRM as what's been proposed before. I guess that's part of the issue of hitting a moving target. Still though, a step forward, so encouraging regardless.
Allow me to clarify some things and prevent misunderstandings.
The 18 ideas are not guaranteed to be useful, or used. The initial modeling runs identified 3 major and 8 minor positive results. The rest are either definitely rejected (1) or possibly useful after the others have been added (the rest). I have been able to make use of previous scripting to create two of the three major modules already, and the third is in process. Once that is done, I will have to run through the remaining 9 (8+1 new idea) ideas and determine if they are still indicated as being a positive influence, which will be used in this particular version and in what order they must be added.
As for 5.0 being the "final word" I realized I made a mistake in my understanding of that modeling run. The result was that I was trying to artificially adjust the version numbering to fit what I thought was the prediction. When I realized I was doing that, I also realized that it was ridiculous to do that. Just do the best you can and move on, and re-iterate as necessary. Version numbers don't really mater as much as making progress, so to force myself out of that choice of action, this version is 5.0 instead of 4.10. No difference; it is what it is. If it's the end all be all, great. If not, we'll gather new ideas and repeat until it is. (Or at least as close as possible.)
