Most people so called "self made millionares" are telling about how they worked ass of, they did this and that etc. but why I am seeing that they already had a rich background? My father are working since he is 10, but he is still broke and waiting for retirement.
I think that people coming from a wealthy background often have a easier time to acquire wealth because it's already in their belief that it's possible - they have seen their parents earn good money, and also they have the benefit of using their network, not being as afraid of failing because they have a back-up, etc.
But there are plenty of people who have made their fortune without coming from especially wealthy backgrounds. Take warren buffet, coming from a pretty modest background and today is one of the wealthiest people on earth.
I believe working hard isn't enough to become wealthy, you need to have some understanding and ability to reflect on what you do and how you do it - to be able to take a step back and see the bigger picture, to be willing to learn from others, have a vision, be able to take some calculated risk. You don't have to be the smartest guy, but you need to have some "street smartness" and practical thinking in place and THEN you can put your ass to it and work hard. A big think in earning money I believe is to understand what people want and find away to give them that. A except from the book "how to think and grow rich by napoleon hill"
Quote:Finally, Mr. Ford became tired of this line of questioning, and in reply to a particularly offensive question, he leaned over, pointed his finger at the lawyer who had asked the question, and said, "If I should really WANT to answer the foolish question you have just asked, or any of the other questions you have been asking me, let me remind you that I have a row of electric push-buttons on my desk, and by pushing the right button, I can summon to my aid men who can answer ANY question I desire to ask concerning the business to which I am devoting most of my efforts. Now, will you kindly tell me, WHY I should clutter up my mind with general knowledge, for the purpose of being able to answer questions, when I have men around me who can supply any knowledge I require?"
There certainly was good logic to that reply. That answer floored the lawyer. Every person in the courtroom realized it was the answer, not of an ignorant man, but of a man of EDUCATION. Any man is educated who knows where to get knowledge when he needs it, and how to organize that knowledge into definite plans of action. Through the assistance of his "Master Mind" group, Henry Ford had at his command all the specialized knowledge he needed to enable him to become one of the wealthiest men in America. It was not essential that he have this knowledge in his own mind. Surely no person who has sufficient inclination and intelligence to read a book of this nature can possibly miss the significance of this illustration.
i think that Shannon has most of this covered in UMS.
