I wanna add my point of view here.
I lost my virginity relatively late, at 23, to an escort. The experience was pretty pleasant, unlike the one mentioned above, but I might have got lucky with that. Also, it was a professional service. Where I am, Toronto, there are a couple of companies that provide the services and they get reviewed, so I had already done my research and had looked for someone that's friendly with virgins. And she was. I also told her straight away that I was a virgin.
I have always had a shy personality, but I also was horny as hell and I wanted to try what the whole story was about. Having all my friends lost their virginity before 18 wasn't helping either. So I went ahead with my decision.
Now, it could get really addicting, if one lacks self control, because they know how to please. They get paid for it
I also felt like crap for a couple of days after. That also is true. But also something very interesting happened a couple of weeks after. I got approached at a bar, and ended up with a one night stand that night. Was that a coincidence? Maybe, but probably not.
Then again, I see how people would not want to pay for sex in that much of a direct way. In fact, I agree with that. It does feel different to pay for it indirectly. I would also agree that it might do more bad than good emotionally, but something is getting unclogged and a point of reference is being created. So, to each their choice. I wouldn't and haven't repeated it since, and in case anyone wants to go down that path, they should obviously be aware of the consequences, especially emotionally.
