so, even though i haven't seen massive productivity spikes, i have noticed the following.
1. while working on creating a database, i found the same distractions that would plague me while i worked at my desk job before. i got distracted by the same distractions. BUT. this time, I didn't beat myself up, nor feel guilty about it. I chalked it up to being something I will have to work on. So that's a good shift in mindset.
2. I went by foot on an errand today, and on the way back I stopped at a paan shop, and got myself a paan. The guy at the stall spoke hindi only, so I connected with him in the sense that neither of us knew the local language. But neither of us spoke a common language either. But I chatted him up anyway, making small talk about him being from Bihar and me (lyingly) saying i'm from Chennai, all the while trying to distinguish what the other was saying through common english, tamil, malayalam, or hindi words. that was pretty cool. It's like the langauge barrier isn't a BARRIER to me anymore. In fact, this is INDIA. there's 20+ OFFICIAL languages, and hundreds of dialects. so I shouldn't feel a language barrier, when there are people migrating from different parts of india to other parts just for work.
that was a cool experience that made me realize that some of the roadblocks in my path are roadblocks I invent with my crazy mind, and when placed in proper perspective, it's ridiculous that my mind even works like that.
All in all, I think today was one of my more productive days despite being distracted a bit.
p.s. pokemon go is kinda fun.
