LionMonkey, to answer your question... you just use masked subs with headphones or earbuds. Or, you get a set of portable speakers that use the same jack. I started off with a pair of small desktop computer speakers on either side of my pillow, with my tape player (remember those things?) under my pillow.
A set of those speakers which can play ultrasonics shouldn't be too terribly hard to find, I'd think.
