Sorry to hear what happened there with your son and your in-laws. The problem with such a thing is, just apologizing does not make it like it never happened. If it had an emotional impact on him, apologizing might help but still might be not enough compared to the incident. But on the other hand it sounds like you were backing him up and sending him a lot of positive energy. So that could have lessened the impact a lot. Daddy is always more important than grandparents.
