Thanks for the reply Shannon.
I understand and do not expect any further replies. Just for the sake of clarity regarding what is already going on, I did seek professional help. The closing words of the first specialist were “Stop stressing and be present,” and the other said, “Stay on the pills”. The pills do work as long as I take them, but they also give me a lot of side effects (which the doctors are aware of and seem to not care). I am now at a point where I either need to figure this out myself or travel abroad to seek help from other reputable specialists.
I would recommend looking for a specialist who believes more in proper psychotherapy than pills (but is not pill-averse, since you seem to need them) and attempt that. Then inform them you're gonna use a sub (I informed mine - she's still taken aback by the fact, but otherwise hasn't told me to *stop*, heh
) and from the available ones, I'd go for PTRA and see how that works. If you were my countryman, I could give you some recommendations as to psychotherapists, but failing that, you can consult the Internet or seek out local peer support groups of people with similar issues and ask them for recommendations (say you want psychotherapy that's more involved than platitudes. Start out with CBT, then go deeper - psychodnamyic/psychonalaytic).
