Okay I will share my suggestions on the Alpha Male 2011.
This will look a bit random maybe.
Here I go:
- Willingness to speak up one's mind when dealing with other people / Willingness to safely (with self control and tact) defend oneself verbally when dealing with other people. / Willingness to stand up for oneself. BUT all that in SAFE ways. The goal here isn't to become aggressive, violent and always on the look out of course. Note: I know the AM 2010 already covers this subject and it did pretty well for me it seems, but I still notice times where there's still some reluctance to really speak up and say how I feel and what I really think to the person I'm dealing with. Of course, a script that would let one say any and all thoughts is not what I'm saying, because in social situations some thoughts are better left unsaid if you want to be decent and respectful. While not being afraid to speak up is good, the other extreme that is to fail to have any restriction and say anything that crosses one's mind is socially unacceptable and can lead to trouble. ^^
Just being able to defend oneself "verbally" and/ or being able to walk out of any situations in safe ways is appropriate when someone is clearly being disrespectful.
- Stop wanting to "please" and/or "agree" with people and/or "self-sabotage oneself" by being too "KIND and ACCOMMODATING" when it's seems obvious that the person (male or female) you're dealing with doesn't really care or take you or your problems into consideration and/or take it apparently too lightly! In short this suggestion is similar to the first one and can be cut short to:
Stop being a nice and kind DOORMAT ! ^^ But again the ideal is to be NICE and KIND but NOT a doormat! Being nice, kind and accommodating are valuable qualities.
- Not being afraid to show or reveal one's weaknesses! This one is part of being "self-conscious" in social situations. We all have weaknesses. I'm not fond of the words Alpha and Beta males because they tend to divide people using concepts. But they can be useful to describe and make a point, so I will define a trait of the Alpha male anyway: In my opinion an Alpha male doesn't care to reveal any weaknesses if it happened to be revealed. I'm not saying that he will walk around showing off his weaknesses but he's "OK" and "Accept himself" the way he already is! Because he knows he isn't a ROBOT! Only someone wanting to "LOOK" alpha will try to put on airs and look like "ROBOCOP or TERMINATOR".
Having fears, stress, anxiety, imperfections... is a part of being human and so, part of the life of the Alpha as well. These emotions are simply part of the human experience. The only difference is probably that he can deal with them more effectively than someone who has anxiety disorders for exemple. Being "Overly" confident, overly authoritative and dominant when dealing with people isn't the best alpha option in my opinion.
- Also, the alpha male is often thought to be the leader. But it's wrong, in my opinion, to think that any man considered to be alpha is a LEADER and is willing to act up on this role. Someone purchasing the Alpha set may easily and on a "conscious" level, being influenced by the idea of becoming an Alpha and therefore put on unnecessary airs! So the suggestion here is WHEN NOT LEADING in any social situations, just to be alright and at peace with it! After all, even if someone wants in any case be the leader, he will encounter other LEADERs and resistance from life in general. So I guess the suggestion is to put in the script a stress on "ego balancing, letting go and humility". Simply accepting that life doesn't always go the way we want. Accepting that not every social situations is perfect the way we would like them to be. And in the end, when in acceptance, it is ironically much easier to deal and act on any situations.
Ok I'm done sharing what I had in mind. I hope this can help.
