Psychic is an old term that is often not transferred properly into modern day language. There are mundane aspects that go along with the idea that most people find amazing when they're developed but are very common. A few good things to research if you're really interested is heart based precognition (this is neat BTW), mirror neurons, lucid dreaming, and empathy. Empathy by itself is extremely powerful when it is combined with knowledge on behavior. Think dog whisperer with humans.
There are more metaphysical and creepier aspects as well, but they're far less common. No need to get into the really weird stuff when the everyday stuff is fascinating enough most of the time.
