I must disagree at this point, because I pirated a lot of stuff in my past, especially movies and games, and if there was a product I really liked I purchased it later. But I know also people who pirated a lot and bought nothing. This is the reason I am still for some kind of AP. And if I understood it right paying customers would be still much less affected by the code. So some sort of light weight AP should be ok. And if I had the choice between using a really small amount of brain power to process the AP statement and Shannon raising the prices I would choose the first one.
