From the little I know it's because of the alkalinity in it. But you can also switch the order you drink to ALKALINE water. Avoid tap water at all costs.
Every vinegar by definition is acidic, which is like opposite of alkaline. If it was otherwise nobody ever would be worried that apple cider vinegar can damage your teeth. Should have pay more attention in chemistry classes. Just sayin'
