Fear is an experience of being threatened as perceived by the animal brain. It is instinctual/emotional and has its roots in the oldest parts of the brain as a basic survival mechanism.
Humans have awareness that ranges from very basic and instinctual through to the conscious awareness and ability to rationalize, conceptualize, plan and achieve the understanding necessary for things like space travel and quantum physics.
As we advance, the more basic parts of our awareness are starting to clash with the more advanced parts of our awareness. We are less and less needing fear, because we can think, and yet fear seems to be the root cause of almost all human limitation and failure.
It is possible to move past fear; we are not doomed to always be afraid because it is instinctual and therefore impossible to completely escape. It's not. But right now we are at the point in the history of the human race where fear is still present along with the higher levels of awareness, and they are clashing.
Knowledge erases fear. Understanding erases fear. Experience erases fear. Wisdom erases fear. And what are all of these? States of being more aware than less aware. The greater our awareness at all levels, the less we experience fear.
