From using Stage 1 of the 2011 set I can say my voice has changed quite a lot; often it's deeper, sometimes it becomes softer, always louder, it's just generally more expressive. I didn't get this from the 2009 set. It seems to me that this could be one of the reasons the Alpha set is partly a type C program.
