It's a problem that seems to be happening in that industry, they hire people to do a job that is inherently physical and then tell them not to get physically involved because somebody might sue, charge you etc. If that ends up going to nightclubs then things will go to shit. As the thing that stops violent people is the threat of them getting hurt back honestly.
The problem is that MANY people who are the biggest idiots who cause trouble are the first to sook to the police when they get put down. (I had that several times and none of them went anywhere)
I worked at a shopping centre for a few months and we had to phsyically eject a drunk every now and then.
But if your working by yourself, I wouldn't reccommend jumping in the middle of fights. Even having 1 other person backing you up makes all the difference. It was a unwritten rule in nightclubs to always take backup, yes occasionally I threw people out by myself, sometimes you have to. But as much as possible take backup, to protect your own ass.
I'm missing the job alot. I got put in hospital and quit and let my license expire. Now I really want to go back.
