TLJ is the number one seller of ANY DVD in 2018. SW isn't going anywhere. As one article stated, "Ummm, I guess people are buying it just to make SURE they hated it!?"
If you're more concerned about your politics and hangups than your inner nerd, you weren't able to pay any attention to what's actually important in the movie - and there's a LOT of stuff going on.
If you caught all the themes, callbacks, symbolism, etc. - and can name it all - and then come up with a coherent argument instead of fallacy-ridden bullshit, I'll take a listen to what you have to say. If you haven't watched the movie more than 5 times - preferably at least 10 - I won't even take the time to listen to your gripes. I just watched it for the 10th+ time, and it just gets better. Can anyone tell me where the Kamino theme from Attack of the Clones appears in TLJ? No? Didn't think so. But it's there, and I'll bet my right nut it'll be significant in Ep. IX. Not that haters dig deep enough to care...
Explain to me what Yoda meant by "We are what they grow beyond." Give me a character study of Rose Tico. Tell me about the foreshadowing of the Supremacy (and if you don't know what that is, GTFO). Explain the importance (or lack thereof) of Artoo replaying Leia's hologram pleading to Ben Kenobi and why that spurred Luke into action. Speak to Luke's actions regarding Ben Solo at the training temple, and then explain the entire scene (as Luke told it). Tell me why Luke appeared the way he did on Crait. Tell me why (or why not) Luke's actions on Crait were or were not COMPLETELY in line with what he learned facing his father in front of the Emperor in ROTJ, and therefore true to who Luke is and has always been...
If you've watched the movie less than 10 times, you haven't been able to notice any of the eccentricities, themes, symbolism, or anything else that makes Star Wars STAR WARS. If you just watched the movie once, and then watched endless anti-SJW YouTube videos cherry-picking BS to support your politics/lady-fears, IMHO you're missing out and I'll discard your opinion with the rest of it. Literally no hater has made me "think" about TLJ being bad in any way. Not even one good point I've heard yet.
And...I probably won't, as the people with issues seem to have watched the movie(s) once, or have a chip on their shoulder something fierce, and come up with subjective drivel without support. Sorry (not sorry) that people with much more imagination and understanding of story arcs, themes, and symbolism were in charge writing the movie. Saying it's hollow, shallow, <whatever> doesn't make it so. I'll go toe-to-toe with whoever wants to. Just be prepared to back your shit up.
