Best to go after success. There's a saying where I'm from; "when you chase girls you lose money, when you chase money the girls chase you".
The general pattern among the successful is that they work hard during the day and socialise hard in the evening. Striking that balance is key. They both fuel each other. Without working towards something, socialising becomes meaningless and without connecting with other people, work loses it's meaning.
When you choose one option in life, you aren't necessarily closing yourself of to all others. I think you may want to revise the black and white thinking that formulated this question in the first place.
