A little late here with the post, but I thought I'd clear something up. The pain-pleasure thing Shannon experimented with was in regards to execution of the script. So when you execute, you feel good. When you avoid, you feel bad. He's removing the feel bad or mild discomfort scripting. It doesn't have anything to do with your actual emotions. It's more like it generates those feelings to steer you towards your goal. So you don't really have much to worry about there.
