I say a photographer just for dating pictures is a waste of money.
You're better off walking around and asking strangers to take pictures of you on your phone . After one solid day of doing this, you should have plenty of qualifying pictures to use.
If you have more intelligent ways to be using this money you have, it would be unintelligent to use the money otherwise. I'm sure you already know that. But of course you are free to do what you want anyway.
That's my 2 cents!
I've heard about this before. The only reason I'm thinking of hiring a professional is that I look much worse when I'm in the photo. (I think I freeze much more than other people in front of cameras.) And I also read that people recommend hiring professional photographers. Yet, I'm still undecided

I got 3 professional photographs for $70, but the poses were shit.
Make sure you find some good poses that will appeal to women, and then, if you have somebody you know who takes pictures, get them to take the picture for you.
I'm going to do this with my brother once it warms up. I'm gonna pay him $15 an hour (which is more than he makes at work, so it's win win).
I wanted to avoid giving out my location, but I currently live in the US' capital, and everything here is expensive. (Compared to the time I was in Minnesota, it is literally more than double the living cost here.)
So this $300 photographers were basically when I searched for professional photography for online dating (something like this.) I also searched for other non-online dating specific photographers, and they charge a lot too. (I mean like charging $300 for 2 pictures for an hour studio photo session.) Groupon seems to work (like it's down to the level you mentioned), and definitely cheaper, but I'll need to figure out which one is the right one.
Either I ask random people for taking photos or hire professionals, how many pictures will I need for the apps and the websites? You also mentioned about good pose. What's a good pose for dating profile? (Shouldn't the professional know though?)
