5.5G tech is basically an in-between. Programs categorized as 5.5G are utilizing similar tech to 5G programs BUT they also have technology incoprotated into them that is also in 6G stuff. Max Speed and HST are both 5G tech. You'll find it in programs like NSFM and even in some (or all) of the 5G 6 stage sets (AM/SM/WM). Energy Flooding, HCT1 and HCT 2 are 6G backports meant for use in 6G subliminals but they are being incorporated into subs like AOS (now AOSI) and E2 (used to be Ephra V1).
It's the equivalent of new technologically superior tires, radios, and cooling (or heating systems in the case of AOSI) being created in 2016 and then having them put into 2015 car models.
TL;DR: 5.5G uses some of the most advanced techniques currently developed by Shannon to kick ass and take names. Ass and names are not provided.
