Exactly. I agree with most of this although to play devil's advocate Shannon could create BIATBW (w/ AOS) and create a version for the ladies. That would increase his workload by quite a bit so in the interest of time I'd imagine him simply making AOS gender neutral as you said.
It depends how much he would have to alter the versions. If the OE would work for both genders, it would be just a text replace (beautiful women/handsome men). In other ways, there would be obviously more work to do.
EDIT: But thinking about it, for two different subs (if you leave AOS and BIATBWS standalone) he would need to do the work twice anyway. And a third time for women. So at the end making AOS and BIATBWS into one sub would be less work.
