The FLACs are derived directly from the WAV audio stream I create. That means they're pristine. But each one of these single stage builts takes about 20-25 gigabytes of space on my disk. Even with a 512 GB hard disk, it has to be cleared away. So I keep the FLAC and MP3 and erase the build files and WAVs. That means that to create the FLACs for anything previous, I have to rebuild it, which I cannot afford the time to do for such a small improvement.
Going forward, there will be FLACs.
Well if you're going to start using flac, samsung just created the biggest ssd drive to date. I'd recommend an ssd drive over hard drive the speed of file transfers are so fast.
