Is ultrasonic favoured to masked?

I have been wondering for a while whether the ultrasonic tracks are expected to produce better results than the masked tracks. The way Shannon writes about ultrasonic tracks gave me the impression that this was the case but he never seems to say it directly. Does anyone know?

I seem to feel more worn out after listening to the ultrasonic track vs masked. I concluded from this that it has a more powerful effect on me personally. I don't know about anyone else though....
