I want to talk about sex drive.
My sex drive has declined noticeably from when I was 19 [I'll be 30 this year], and I feel like it should be higher. Though I get erections easily in the morning*, I rarely wake up with one. I had my total T measured a month ago and it was 580 ng/dl. Not extraordinary high or low. I'm in excellent health. I'm muscular and just under 12% BF right now.
There are so many advantages to having a high sex drive. Let's start with the obvious. High sex drive males are driven more than others to pursue physical relationships with women they are attracted to. They hone their skills and brave their barriers in order to meet their physical needs. They also fuck more—whether it's more partners or more rounds with the same partner—because they can and want to.
High sex drive males also have a propensity for achieving great things because they are known to sublimate their sexual energy into creative and profitable endeavours. There are many very successful men with high sex drives.
I want to enjoy all of those benefits. I can recall feeling that drive that comes from libido. So I've been thinking about what could be limiting my sex drive:
i) Exercise. Lifting heavy is known to have a positive impact on testosterone, but ironically it takes a toll on your body and I've noticed that on days between workouts I often feel sluggish, and it's like my libido is blunted in favour of recovery. I lift heavy 2-3 days a week, but when I do I go ham.
ii) Diet. I am cutting which means moderate calorie restriction, but I am careful about maintaining a controlled rate of fat loss. I still eat a lot and I also do not dip below a certain percentage of calories from fat, which can have a negative impact on sex drive otherwise. And I'm the cleanest eater I know.
iii) Testosterone. I think it could/should be higher for my age. Awaiting my Free T results.
iv) Confidence/Shame. I've written about this before. When I had those surges of confidence on AM6, my libido was firing on all cylinders. There is a powerful connection here. And it works both ways. Feeling ashamed of my body, but more so about the size of my penis and PE. There is an aspect of mental impotence. I'm keeping myself down, literally and figuratively.
v) Stress. Hesitant to add this because my life isn't that stressful but for good measure: I work retail. It's part time but even short shifts can be draining.
Now in terms of supplements. I've taken Vitamin D for the longest time because I live in Canada! And a D deficiency can have an impact on sex drive, strength, and energy, among other things. I also take 25mg Zinc every night.
I read a book called the Hardness Factor and have been experimenting with a combination of 3g Arginine and 100mg Pycnogenol daily. Nothing significant yet. Also got Horny Goat Weed which is a PDE-5 inhibitor like Viagra and Cialis, but significantly milder and all natural.
So obviously subs are only going to help with the mental—and I'm really interested in what SM is going to do for me here in terms of how that translates to physical.
What do you guys think about the whole thing?

Under heaven all can see beauty as beauty only because there is ugliness.
All can know good as good only because there is evil.
