Don't want to seem like a odd ball, at least according to this society, but I have to agree. I did research a while back ago about what the age of consent actually should be. I did this because I remember reading about a guy who got put on the sexual predators list, unjustly imo. What happen was he was on Tinder and hooked up with a girl. They met then had sex. The problem was she was like 15 (or around there) and had lied about her age on Tinder. Cops showed up at his door and arrested him. At the court proceedings, the girl admitted that she lied about her age and even her mother backed her up. Despite all this, the judge still found the guy guilty and said the guy had to register on the state's sexual predators list. On top of this I've also seen and heard people abuse these laws. For example, which I have seen plenty of times, Teenage Boy and girl are dating/having sex. The parents don't like the boyfriend, so as soon as he turns 17 or 18 and the girl is still 16 (something like that depending on the state) they call the cops on him for being with a underage girl and his life is ruined. Its just so dumb and petty imo.
Anyway, I found out in my research that the age of consent laws didn't change until like a hundred years ago, before then for thousands of years you were considered a adult as soon as you hit puberty (could vary wildly from 10 to 13). They even had people at age 14 attending Harvard back when it first began. Things like Junior high school and High school didn't become mandatory until like the early 1900s. Before, when you were 10 or 11 you just either went to a trade school, joined the workforce, or went to college. I have to agree with this because quite honestly, like most people my age, I found Junior high school and High school to be a waste of time. I didn't really end up using anything I learn from their in my day to day life really.
