I think you should do it monthly as it's easier to grasp and imagine yourself in. And don't make it to high, make it as much as it would make a change to your circumstances. Let say you are earning $500 a month, then set it for $2000 a month. Thats a 4 time multiple. Don't get to lost into what other people are doing, keep your mind on your situation and keep doing things that feel like they are helping you move into the right direction. Keep grinding. As I understand you are currently lacking employment, so in that position the most important thing is to just get a job. Get any job, as you get yourself out of the mud, start meeting people, doing stuff, things will open up, become more clear. But you must persist, keep looking for jobs, make a system so you can structure your way of doing it. Keep book of who you searched for, how it went, who you talked to, phone number, etc. And set a goal of searching for 1 job every day. Eventually you will find one and you can take things from there, but that should be your first priority. "The only way to fail is to stop trying"
