To make sure we stay objective:
Whenever women have approached me in the past they were all strangers or girls I didn't know from school. I've never been popular with any social groups either.
So while this may be true for you, it is definitely NOT a requirement for a woman to approach a man.

I've been thinking back to times when women have approached me.
1) It was times when I was popular with their friends or social group.
2) It was times they already felt "open", like their guard was down. They felt bold or empowered or free or liberated. (I don't know how better to describe it.)
3) It was when they felt very familiar with me or about me.
4) They thought they already knew me.
5) They already knew me and really liked me.
