The Count of Monte Cristo made in 2002 is an awesome movie for showing the transformation from a boy into a man.

I've seen most of these movies, since I'm a half assed actor myself and a complete movie freak.

My personal top 3:

Matrix (first one mostly, amazing philosophy and meaning behind it)
Donnie Darko ( His honesty, Alpha maleness and the therapist are gold. Not to mention the psychological effect of the movie)
Unusual Suspects (so much suspense and how Kevin Spacy made it to this movie is inspiring)

I have no idea what this is about even from the trailer.. but I love mental movies so i'll watch it.

+1 on The Departed and The Matrix, though I disagree on the replay value of The Matrix (I think it's very replayable, even in 2015/2016); I'm half-and-half on Minority Report, though.

The Matrix is a bit tainted by the executive meddling found in its sequels, though.

I didn't like Ninja scroll that much tbh.

A movie I'm about 10 minutes away from finishing (but it's getting too late, so I'll have to finish it another time) is "Lost in Translation". A really meditative movie about life. It's not making a point either, just gently stirs thoughts and emotions in powerful ways. It's one of those movies that will most likely mean something different each time you watch it throughout your life, but that also spurs some revelations for you each time you watch it, and always in a different way, relevant to where you are in your journey. It's like a collage.

Those are the kinds of movies I like best.
