My current work environment is VERY negative. Filled with rumors, gossips, ass kissing the bosses, double standards, lip service, hypocrisy. Anyone who tries to stand up for themselves, gets put down as not being a team player, being part of the problem, not a solution. I am not trying to focus too much on what is going on there, but I wanted to give you guys a preview as to what I deal with daily.
I can relate man! I've also experienced that especially with my first job. A lot of gossips, putting other people down to get ahead etc. The best thing to do and what I did was to just ignore them and do my own job. Even though I am not the focus of their gossips, and when my colleagues are talking about others I just stay quiet and try to steer the conversation on a more positive light. I've had enough of people talking shit about other people. People also started to like me more because I talk more about exciting positive things. Deep inside even though we somehow feel good when we talk about rumors and backstabbing other people, it isn't helpful to us in any way. It's just our ego running wild again. In the end, I resigned that job and frankly I can say I am happier career wise. It's a good experience on my part.
Keep on being awesome spiritman!
