The only way I am staying on top of this is by turning my phone off and listening to rain soundtracks. My term paper is due in 3 weeks and I have only completed 4/40 notecards...
Running and listening to rain sound tracks help put me in a good state to do work on my assignments.
I've always been a last minute kind of guy and it's a hard habit to break. What helps for me is to just set a timer for 20 or 30 minutes, then work until that timer goes off. No distractions or breaks, just 20 to 30 minutes of solid work. After that I take a break and maybe work on it for another 20 minutes. But the important thing is working in little pieces and not tackling everything at once. Since I started doing this work is a lot less stressful because I'm not looking to finish the whole thing in one day. But like I said, procrastination is a hard habit to break so you really have to work on it.
