Distortion will occur on low-med spec speakers if the volume is too high, regardless of the frequency range.

Also not that its required, but for peace of mind they go up to 48KhZ. Powered monitors are a pain to setup though as you require special leads and 2 pwer cords, 1 for each speaker.
I read Shannon using max volume with US in his thread the other day, thought his wasn't advised but most be OK if he's doing it?
