You mean a crackling tone or just a high pitch peeping?
from memory its more of a constant buzz/humm, almost like the speakers don't filter out the noise created by the power supply, so its picking up feedback from the mains AC. I don't think its the subs, but the actual speakers.
Either way I'm really happy with the new speakers, they get upto 21Khz legitimately not just a manufacturer claim.
