When you have a force as powerful as the human sex drive and you try to put that energy, effectively, nowhere... you get a lot of polarized responses.
In other words, it sounds like you went from masturbating a small number of times a day to masturbating about the same number of times per week but in a more polarized all or nothing manner.
This indicates that you need to find something to do with this sexual energy. Some way to express it in a manner that fits your desires. Is the amount of sexual energy decreasing? Or is it just being polarized as you try to apply the brakes and end up with explosions at periodic intervals?
It is normal and natural to have sexual energy, and normal and natural to masturbate or have sex to express it. If that's not your desire, then you need to find things to do that express that energy and/or transmute it such that it gets used up, without doing whatever it is you don't want to do.
Perhaps you can focus it into work, or some creative activity or hobby.
