How is he not answering the topic? I don't see any need for you to tell him to be quiet, that is a sure way to not get replies from people in the future.. he was simply pointing something out.
What you call 'resistance' isn't always obvious. It doesn't have to be something intense, sometimes it can simply be boredom or just thinking it isn't working. For me that tends to be the hardest to deal with because it's subtle and feels more convincing. When it's obvious and intense I can identify "ok something is being worked on" easier.
