It doesn't necessarily have to hurt before it leaves you, but most people don't have an easy time clearing out the crud they must remove before they achieve the goal. The program isn't about feeling good, it's about getting the job done. That's why some people liken it to boot camp at points. It can be very challenging, depending on what you need to change to become healthy.
Stage 1 is about clearing a foundation, and it's going to be that your response isn't necessarily going to be obvious on the outside. Go back and read the directions again; I talk about this in them. But your responses are showing that you are getting results. It is making changes, and the process of change isn't always going to be fun or easy. But as anyone of us who has "graduated" can tell you, it's most assuredly worth the effort. Stick to it.
