I guess you live and learn for what amount is best for yourself

When I had to shut down this business in 2008 to restructure it, because I had outgrown eBay, but not yet found Andrew, I was completely unemployed for a few months. During that time, money was very tight, and we only made it because my girlfriend had a job. I was struggling with what to do: stick to my guns and keep working on this, or start applying to work for other people?
Things got bad and I had to start applying for work. I applied to more than 50 places, and of those, 3 called me back. Of those, two gave me an interview. None hired me.
That I applied for 53 different jobs (or maybe it was 73? I can't remember.) wasn't done out of fear, it was done because I knew that the economy was down and I needed to make my odds of getting a job reasonable. If each application has an average of 1% chance for resulting in getting me hired, I'm gonna go kill a hundred applications, my friend! It's just a numbers game. Common sense says that you identify the target goal and then do what it takes to achieve that goal. It's not about fear, it's about achieving your goal.
If things hadn't picked up when I found Andrew and started working on this business again, I;d have gone out and killed another 50 or 75 or however many apps, until I got hired. It's just a numbers game. You do what it takes to get what you want.
